IKIGAI

Ikigai is a Japanese concept referring to something that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for living. Let’s find your Ikigai! You are unique and wonderful.

LET'S FIND YOURS!

 How to Create Your Ikigai?

  1. Draw Four Overlapping Circles:
Draw four large circles that overlap like a 4-petal flower. Label each circle as follows:

    • What You Love

    • What You Are Good At

    • What The World Needs

    • What You Can Be Paid For

How to Fill in Each Circle?

1) What You Love (Passion)

  • Ask yourself:

    • What activities make me feel excited, joyful, or "in flow"?

    • If I had all the time in the world, what would I spend it doing?

    • What did I love doing as a child that I might have forgotten?

  • Write down hobbies, interests, and passions, even if they seem unrelated to work.

2) What You Are Good At (Strengths)

  • Ask yourself:

    • What skills come naturally to me?

    • What do people compliment me on or ask me for help with?

    • What have I mastered or could teach others?

  • List both hard skills (like coding, design, or yoga) and soft skills (like empathy, patience, or listening).

3) What The World Needs (Impact)

  • Ask yourself:

    • What problems do I feel passionate about solving?

    • What do I believe the world is missing?

    • Who do I want to help, serve, or inspire?

  • This is about thinking beyond yourself. Identify causes, movements, or needs that align with your heart.

4) What You Can Be Paid For (Sustainability)

  • Ask yourself:

    • How do people currently make a living doing the things I love or am good at?

    • What products, services, or skills do people pay for in my field of interest?

    • How can I monetize my talents, passions, or impact?

  • This might require some research, but think of freelance jobs, online courses, content creation, coaching, or consulting as potential paths.

Find Your Ikigai 🌟

  1. Look for Overlaps:

    • Look at where the answers from each circle intersect.

    • If you see common themes across what you love, what you’re good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for, that’s your Ikigai.

  2. Refine It:

    • Your Ikigai may not be one exact job title. It could be a lifestyle, a way of working, or a combination of roles.

    • Sometimes it requires small adjustments. For example, if you love art but don't see how to get paid for it, explore creative jobs like illustration, branding, or creating online courses.

💡 Questions to Spark Clarity

  • If I could do one thing for the rest of my life, what would it be?

  • What would I regret not pursuing 10 years from now?

  • What pain or challenge have I overcome that I could help others with?

  • How can I combine my passion with a way to serve others?

An example of an Ikigai :

Let's say you:

  • Love: Yoga, creativity, supporting others on their spiritual journey

  • Are Good At: Teaching, listening, making people feel calm and safe

  • What the World Needs: More wellness spaces, deeper self-connection, less stress

  • What You Can Be Paid For: Yoga classes, holistic coaching, wellness retreats, or online courses
Your Ikigai might be to become a spiritual wellness coach or yoga retreat facilitator, which allows you to live at the heart of all 4 aspects.
